Ministry
Ministry At St. Stephen doesn't take place just on Sunday Morning. Here are some of the ministries that our members take part in!
WORSHIP INTERCESSION
Prayer is foundational to the life of any church, and here at St. Stephen's we consider prayer to be a high priority. In addition to the prayers that are an integral part of the liturgical services, we also have a ministry of prayer before the Sunday morning service to saturate the sanctuary with intercession. Furthermore, we have a special prayer ministry called Worship Intercession. This is a time when the act of worship itself becomes the intercession. Although we gather together as a group for worship intercession, our entire focus is on the Lord alone, and our adoration and praise of Him is our only prayer. Instead of approaching the Lord with a list of our requests, we simply worship Him with singleness of heart and allow Him to place in our hearts the intercessions that He desires for us to pray. It is a beautiful time of intimacy with the Lord, and it brings a sweet refreshing to all who participate.
Pro-Life Group
The pro life movement is alive and well at St. Stephen. Our group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The group was formed in July 2002 and has been active ever since. Our meetings usually include a video or a special guest speaker, updates on current pro life news, handouts of new brochures or newspaper articles, and discussion about pro life issues, activities or fund raisers.
Some of our members regularly visit the local abortion mill to do prayer and sidewalk counseling. Others volunteer in crisis pregnancy centers. Most of us participate in the annual Walk For Life sponsored by Kentucky Right To Life.
In December we erect white crosses on the front lawn of our church to
commemorate the 40 plus million babies killed since abortion was legalized over 30 years ago. We are blessed to have a pro life pastor, Bishop Don Miles, who not only preaches and teaches the pro life message, but also has endorsed and encouraged our group.
The foundation of this ministry is prayer. And our prayer is to have God's agenda on this issue and to reach out in His love to protect the unborn and to minister to the hurting moms and dads who have been affected by abortion.
