Pastor's Message

Welcome in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

On behalf of God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - we welcome you. The people and clergy of St. Stephen Anglican Church invite you to our regular services of worship throughout the week. More importantly, we welcome you to a time-tested and proven way path to having a deeper spiritual life - a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ changed the world. He is the single most influential person history has ever known. His life so transformed our understanding of everything that happened before him and everything that happened after him that we made him the center of history (BC = Before Christ and AD = anno Domini, Latin for "in the year of the Lord").

Come as you are, leave as you can become!

Jesus Christ is STILL changing the world today, one life at a time! He is at work, delivering people from sin and sickness, healing families, and making us whole. And Jesus is still empowering and sending out His disciples into the world - to bring the good news of the Kingdom of God.

In a world that is flooded with bad news - about the economy, about world peace, about the breakdown of the family - we invite you to come and hear the good news.

Jesus Christ has overcome the world!

Belief and Practice

St. Stephen’s is a parish of the Anglican Church in North America, an American expression of the “one holy, catholic and apostolic church” of the Creed as it nourished the English speaking peoples, the Universal church of Christ throughout the world and "the blessed company of all faithful people” (BCP 1979, p. 338). The church maintains the Holy Eucharist as the central act of Christian worship. We teach the historic faith with the Book of Common Prayer as the standard of worship and truly believe the bible to be the word of God.

Involvement

The first step to membership is involvement in parish life. Regular attendance at church services indicates sincerity in responding to God’s call. New members are officially received into the church through one of three means:
  1. Transfer – Baptized and confirmed Episcopalians or Anglicans who have been communicants in other churches may transfer membership to this parish.
  2. Reception – Baptized Christians who have been confirmed by a bishop in Apostolic Succession (for example members of the Roman Catholic, or Orthodox churches, as well as pre-1978 Episcopal) may after a brief review of church teachings be received into this parish by the bishop or rector.
  3. Confirmation Confirmation is the laying on of the bishop’s hands to strengthen the person in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is the adult reaffirmation of baptismal vows.

Time, Talent, and Resources

Membership in the Anglican Church in North America and at St. Stephen’s is a commitment to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ in tangible ways. There are many opportunities to participate in the ministry of the parish through offering your personal time, talent, and financial resources. A formal pledge card along with the envelopes for financial giving may be obtained from the parish treasurer.
